At Absolute Auctions,
we like to say “Specialty Collections Are Our Specialty!”
Here are just a few of the reasons why we will be the ideal solution for you once you are ready to discuss selling your Specialty Collection:
We draw from decades of experience in handling collections of all types and sizes (see below for a partial listing).
From the early years of the company, specialty auctions have been a priority, and many of our upgrades are the result of our commitment to providing the best service possible to our specialty collectors.
In addition to the many general-appeal publications we advertise in, we also aggressively market the auction in periodicals specifically geared towards that type of collectible. For instance, a collection of coins will be advertised in the Numismatic News to ensure that serious coin collectors have the opportunity to compete for your collection.
We utilize our own in-house Internet bidding system (AARBIDS) at every auction – as well as eBay whenever appropriate – to make sure we attract worldwide interest in your collectibles.
When setting up our Internet auctions, we have several choices available to us. We can use any combination of the following:
- static Internet bidding (the auction has a defined start and end time, and bidders place bids until the auction ends)
- live real-time Internet bidding (bidders participate live via the Internet at the same time the crowd in the Auction Center is bidding)
- dynamic-ending Internet bidding (the auction has a start and end time, but if someone leaves a bid at the very end of the auction, the ending time will automatically be extended by a predetermined number of minutes to give other bidders a chance to counterbid).
Each piece of the collection will be professionally photographed, lotted and cataloged. The photos and catalogs will be posted to our website, and direct-mail and email notices will be sent to our database of thousands of loyal buyers inviting them to preview the auction online.
The Absolute Auction Center is equipped with many features suited to specialty collections, including locked, lighted display cases; a monitored alarm system; professional photography equipment, and an auction slide show presentation that projects smaller collectibles in larger-than-life detail. From intake to preview to auction, we will protect and display your lifetime investment as if it were our own.
Throughout the process, our highly trained staff will utilize customized computer programs to auction your collection professionally and efficiently. Our electronic auction system has many benefits: it ensures careful tracking of your property from the time we receive it until the time it goes home with its new owner; it enables us to accept and execute bids in a variety of formats from bidders all over the world; and it allows us to provide you with a precise accounting of your auction once your collection has sold. And although we are already known as a technological leader in our industry, we are continually evaluating our options and are committed to upgrading in any way that will help us achieve our goals.
While this list is by no means comprehensive, following are some examples of specialty collections we have auctioned:
Antique Bottles & Crocks
Antique Toys & Games
China, Glass & Porcelain
Coins & Currency
Hummels & Figurines
Knives & Straight Razors
Over the years, we have auctioned hundreds of specialty collections for serious collectors just like you. While each one is unique in its size, scope and subject matter, the common element is that the owner has spend a great deal of time, money and effort to gather the items together. In everything we do, we bear in mind that your collection has value far beyond its material worth, and we treat it accordingly.
